The Race
In December 2009 and in January 2010 Lee McNamara set off for the first part of the 2 Hopes back-to-back rowing epic, he attempted to row singlehandedly from the Canary Isles to Antigua – or in other words across the North Atlantic Ocean. Upon Lee’s arrival in Antigua the 2 Hopes Craft was meant to be shipped to Geraldton in Western Australia where Rob Eustace was going to set off from, to singlehandedly row to Mauritius – The Indian Ocean.
However…
Lee’s both attempts were thwarted due to extremely naughty weather! One attempt almost became dangerous as Lee came to within 15 miles of scuppering the boat.
The tow back through the waves destroyed parts of the boat.
So Lee has to wait now until Rob cracks the Indian Ocean.
